Clients are unable to drive their own vehicles for assessment. The centres have dual controlled vehicles. In exceptional circumstances where the mobility centre does not have a suitably adapted vehicle and the client is driving with controls that are not available in the centre’s assessment vehicle, the driving adviser at his/her discretion may undertake the assessment in clients own vehicle providing the client is able to provide documentation to prove the vehicle is adequately insured and holds a valid MOT.
A full driving assessment costs £250. We also offer Passenger assessments at £250, Review assessments at £250, and familiarisation driving lesson costs available on request. Of course information when you contact the centre’s is completely free. It is recommended that you contact the mobility centre if you are unsure of what service you require. Fees for an assessment for solicitors clients are £650.
You will not be asked Highway Code questions but you will be expected to recognise and follow road signs
The driving advisers are experienced in dealing with situations such as this therefore consideration will be given as will consideration be given to those driving with adaptations for the first time.
The mobility centres have a variety of routes. All routes consist of major and minor roads and roundabouts, road calming measures and traffic lights.
This depends on your medical condition and you should either telephone the mobility centre for advice or consult the DVLA website section "Medical Conditions".
You can pay by cash or cheque and we accept all major credit/debit cards. If booking online payment is via credit/debit card.
We are unable to undertake an on road assessment if you do not have a valid licence but we can try various adaptations and evaluate your physical strengths and use the vision and cognitive testing equipment. Therefore it is advised that you telephone the mobility centre to ascertain whether it would be advantageous or not to attend without a licence.
